Opalinus Clay in the shallow decompaction zone: eochemical investigations on drill core samples from borehole Lausen KB

Borehole Lausen KB (coord. 2'624'157/1'257'719/345) was drilled in October 2015 to a depth of 146.53 m and yielded a high-quality core with a diameter of 102 mm. The chronology of all field activities, together with a documentation of the technical data, is provided in Vogt et al. (2016).

The main objectives of the study included the characterisation of Opalinus Clay in a surficial position regarding rock/water interactions (such as oxidation), porewater composition and the effects of decompaction (such as rock deformation, changes of permeability and matrix porosity).
