Radioactive waste must be safely isolated from humans and the environment for the next one million years. This can only be ensured by enclosing it in a deep geological repository. In Switzerland, Nagra is preparing a construction licence application for this pioneering project.
As part of the repository safety team, you will:
- Contribute to developing the next post-closure safety case
- Support the development of scenarios for the future repository evolution
- Integrate and further develop the in-house and external expertise in processes and phenomena related to deep geological repositories in clay host rocks
- Optimise and digitise workflows and the logic framework of the post-closure safety case
- Interact with policy makers, stakeholders and the public
Your profile:
- University degree in environmental sciences, earth sciences and/or engineering
- A passion for challenging interdisciplinary contexts and projects
- Enthusiasm for preparing scientific reports and presentations
- Adaptability and willingness to commit to the repository project
- Strong team player who enjoys collaboration and proactive exchange
- Very good written and spoken English is required, good knowledge of German is an asset, willingness to develop/expand German language skills is a must
- Experience with the development of phenomenological models and/or with the analysis of coupled processes in clay rocks is an advantage
