Seismische Messungen Vibrationsfahrzeuge

Seismic measurements provide images of the underground geological environment that can be compared to those obtained from ultrasound. Seismic images capture information on the structure of the rock layers and the presence of geological fault zones. In recent years, Nagra has conducted various 2D and 3D seismic measurement campaigns.

Was Entsorgen Atommuell 5

We inventory the waste and make reliable predictions for the future, thus ensuring that a deep geological repository will have enough space for all types of radioactive waste.

Quartarbohrungen Der Nagra In Riniken

Deposits of unconsolidated rock from the Quaternary – the most recent geological time period from around 2.5 million years ago to the present – provide information on past erosion processes and tectonic activity. For this reason, Nagra has investigated these unconsolidated rocks by drilling boreholes. The drilling procedure has been completed, but investigations of the rock samples obtained are ongoing.

Switzerland has igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic rocks. These three rock types are closely connected to each other in a cycle.

Versuche In Felslabors 1

Experiments in the two Swiss rock laboratories provide important information for the construction of a deep geological repository and its long-term safety.

In Switzerland, radioactive waste is securely packaged and held in interim storage facilities and at the nuclear power plants until a deep geological repository has been constructed.

The underground in Northern Switzerland has been thoroughly researched. Boreholes and seismic measurements have contributed significantly to obtaining an overall image.

Dsc 0616 B

The safe disposal of our radioactive waste in a deep geological repository is a cross-generational project. We too have several generations dedicated to this mission.

Gebuendelte Kraefte Forschung

Together with scientists from all over the world, we conduct research at the Swiss underground rock laboratories and in other laboratories in Switzerland and abroad.

The safety of a deep geological repository must be ensured for a very long time period. Studies of natural analogues allow conclusions to be drawn on slow geological processes.
