New Visitors Centre at the Mont Terri Rock Laboratory

A newly opened Visitors Centre at the Mont Terri Rock Laboratory provides a wealth of information on radioactive waste disposal and the research being conducted in this field.

The Centre houses a modern exhibition on the Rock Laboratory and topics such as radioactivity and nuclear waste management. It is located next to the St-Ursanne railway station.

Federal Councillor Ueli Maurer and representatives of the Federal Office of Topography (swisstopo), the Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate (ENSI) and Nagra attended the opening ceremony on 5th September. These three organisations are the sponsors of the Centre.

The Rock Laboratory and the Visitors Centre are open year-round to interested groups. Tours of the facilities are free of charge.
