Jura Ost: Applications for exploration permits opened for public inspection

The 30-day inspection period for the applications for exploration permits in five siting communities in the Jura Ost region starts today.

At the end of September 2016, Nagra submitted applications for 8 exploratory boreholes in each of the siting regions Jura Ost and Zürich Nordost to the Swiss Federal Office of Energy (SFOE). The boreholes will be used to investigate the geological and hydrogeological properties of the underground rock formations. A separate permitting procedure is carried out for each application; the permits are expected to be granted in autumn 2018. The documentation supporting the applications was opened for public inspection today in the communities in the Jura Ost siting region where boreholes are planned.  The applications can be inspected over a period of 30 days at the local community offices. Information sessions are also being offered in each community, with Nagra staff being available to answer questions.
