Your tasks

Nagra is developing and testing a general repository optimisation workflow, called ROWO. ROWO is an innovative approach designed to enhance the planning and implementation of a deep geological repository for radioactive waste along with pre-disposal facilities and activities in Switzerland. It utilizes the Pareto optimisation method, recognized as a state-of-the-art approach for multi-objective decision-making in various industries. ROWO employs a series of simple models to assess individual configurations against different objectives and corresponding indicators.

Your tasks in this project would be:

  • To familiarize yourself with the current repository concept and with ROWO
  • To contribute to the further development of the simple models
  • Post-process and results evaluation
  • Applying maching learning techniques to create predictive models

Your profile

  • Programming skills (R, Python)
  • Experience in machine learning is considered a plus
  • Ability to solve problems independently using a structured approach and critical thinking skills
  • Motivation and willingness to learn
  • Good scientific writing skills (in English, German is considered a plus)

We offer

Our ongoing projects at the interface between industry and fundamental research offer the unique opportunity to explore the most fascinating aspects of these two worlds.
